From
its birth in 1973 to the present, the Annapolis Chorale has grown
in size, sound and scope to become one of the largest and most active
arts organizations in the region. While retaining a firm commitment
to enhancing community life through performing and presenting the
best in live music, the Annapolis Chorale has expanded its mission
to include music education for all ages.
The
Annapolis Chorale is:
- 180
volunteer singers from communities in Anne Arundel, Howard, Prince Georges,
Baltimore and Calvert County.
- The
25-voice Chamber Chorus
- The
35-member Annapolis Chamber Orchestra
- The
100-voice Annapolis Youth Chorus, which includes children, aged
6-18 years.
- Sponsor
of a The St. Anne's Concert Series, which brings the finest musicians
from the Mid-Atlantic area to Annapolis
Our
education and outreach programs include:
- A
scholarship program for high-school students [link to specific

- MusicWorks,
a partnership that brings together the Chorale and area students for a concert [link to specific information]
- A mentoring program for emerging young singers

Annapolis Chorale performs a full season of seven concerts from
September through April with a repertoire that includes such classical

Under
the leadership of Music Director J. Ernest Green, the Annapolis
Chorale has earned a reputation for excellence, creativity and innovative
programming. The Chorale has performed at Carnegie Hall twice to
rave reviews. Reviewers consistently use such phrases as "Grand
and glorious singing," "Filled and brimming over with talent," and
"Fresh approach to music making" to describe the Chorale.
From
humble beginnings in 1973, the Annapolis Chorale has become a music
organization for all ages.
